Beer Review - Flying Couch / Mikkeller: Fake New Englander

The next beer I’ll review is the one and only Flying Couch / Mikkeller: Fake New Englander! And if you ask me, the best lager of 2019!!!

Let me tell you a few things about this beer!

It’s a 5,4 % ABV, India Style Lager. - New England Style. It’s a collab between Flying Couch and Mikkeller. It has been DDH (Double Dry-hopped) with Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy, Simcoe and Amarillo hops.

The color is Golden straw yellow. It pours a High foamy white head, and slowly falls to a small lasting head.

The Aroma is very hop forward! A lot of fruity notes with a mix of herbal aroma and floral aromas - hay, grass, flowers. On The fruity side it offers is a mix of stone fruits, mango, pineapple and ripe grapefruit, with a dash of fresh peel from citrus fruits. It also has a subtle malty bready note and some yeasty esters.

The taste is follows the nose! Crips and hoppy! Very delicious! The DDH brings so intense fruity flavors to the table – Pineapple, peach and mango, and with the lager yeast added to the mix - Well then you have one hell of a beer!

The finish offers a dry finish, low in bitterness, it has a medium carbonation, with a light to medium body/ mouthfeel.

This beer was a great experience! I’m such a big fan of this style! I could easily drink a dozen of them. If you like lager beer and want a hoppy experience, I highly recommend this beer! Thirst quenching, fresh and crushable! You might notice the score on the picture, that’s because on instagram I give scores from 0 to 100 – And this beer was a solid 96,66 points! So when I recently did a “Best beers of the first half of 2019 Danish edition”, I quickly gave this beer a spot on the list – It fully deserved it!

Till next time,

Yours truly - HopSkull.

The beer is completely sold out, but there's plenty of both lagers and NE-style beers to choose from!
