Mikkeller Brewing NYC Taproom visit

A massive thanks to Mikkeller for featuring my blog. I love rambling about great beers and good places to drink them - I hope you enjoy reading. I thought I'd return the favour to Mikkeller with my first post being about a fantastic Mikkeller beer destination. So here are some words and photos from my trip to Mikkeller Brewing NYC in January this year.

We had some time to kill before we got our flights from New York so what better way to spend the afternoon than to drink tasty beer, eat delicious food and play games? Mikkeller NYC happened to be on the way to the airport so it would've been rude not to drop by. SO convenient! With great wall art and stained-glass windows it's a very spacious and bright tap room with a great a chilled vibe.

There was a fantastic selection of over 50 taps and a further bottle bottle list to choose from. It took us a long time to decide what we wanted so we just had to order a few beers... And then a few more... Amongst various tasty Mikkeller offerings we sampled some great local brews from Suarez Family Brewing. We raided the boardgame selection and had several furious games of Uno whilst making our way through the beers.

The drinks were sorted and when it came to food we were all set too - we ordered the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches and were not disappointed - in fact, this is making me hungry just talking about it now. The brewery and taproom is located at the Citi Field Stadium, home of the Mets Baseball team. This is a great idea - finally giving sports fans a chance to drink good beer whilst they support their team.

The beer pictured is a Mikkeller San Diego Barrel Aged Cocoa Shake. It was a decadent and rich barrel-aged Imperial stout with cocoa added, weighing in at 13% abv. It was surprisingly balanced for what you might expect from such a decadent-sounding beer and the barrel-aging really added more subtlety and complexity to this beer.

This place is definitely worth a visit and the beer is certainly worth drinking. 🍺🍔🌭🍟🎲⚽⚾🇺🇲🇩🇰✈️
