Porter & Herring
Porter and herring are a match made in heaven. The porter’s roasty sweet character contrasts the freshness and saltiness of the herring. It might not be the first thing you think of, but it works. Trust me.
Porter
A porter is a substantial, extra-strong dark malty beer with a complex and flavorful dark malt character with a restrained bitterness. It may have a range of roasted flavors, generally without burnt qualities, and often has a chocolate-caramel-malty profile. The porter tends to downplay the overt roastiness of an Imperial Stout.
